Paediatric Ward - Ward 11
This is the only paediatric ward which admits kids from 0 – 12 years. We place patients in cubicles according to their ages and diagnoses. Our challenge in the unit is when it is full and we have very ill patients admitted in other wards, then we have to swap our stable patients and take the very ill patients.
We also admit ICU patients that need hourly observations. The challenge we come across is the team that will be in the ward. There is only one Professional Nurses and 3 Enrolled Nursing Assistants and are all not trained to nurse ICU patients.
We have a playroom for the kids but we cannot utilise it to its full capacity as it is not user friendly for all the kids at once. There are no televisions in the cubicles for kids to watch educational programmes and kiddies channels.
